Effect of Sample Conditioning on the Microarchitectural Parameters of Trabecular Bone

The best way to preserve mechanical properties of bone for biomechanical testing is hydration in NaCl whereas the reference process in μCT analysis is defatting. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effects of sample conditioning on trabecular bone microarchitecture comparing defatted specimens (considered as reference for μCT analysis) with two hydrated modes (considered as references for biomechanical testing).
